Mark Friedman
Mark Friedman is a senior managing director in the firm’s strategic advisory practice, with a focus on global shipping and global transportation.
Since joining Evercore in 2009, Mr. Friedman had advised on numerous large maritime mergers, including the combinations of StarBulk and OceanBulk, General Maritime and Navig8, Global Ship Lease and Poseidon Containers. Other select transactions include advising Taylor Maritime on the acquisition of Grindrod Shipping, and the Special Committees on the privatizations of Gaslog Ltd., GasLog Partners and Hoegh LNG Partners. As a restructuring advisor, he has worked with some of the largest debtors (each of whom successfully restructured in consensual transactions), including Zim, Danaos and TORM.
Outside of shipping, Mr. Friedman advised Knight Transportation on its acquisition of Swift Transportation, which created the largest truckload company in the world. He also recently advised USA Truck on its sale to DB Schenker.
Previously, Mr. Friedman was the U.S. head of transportation and global head of shipping at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and prior to that was an investment banker at Goldman,Sachs & Co. He began his career as an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
Mr. Friedman holds a B.S. in economics with highest honors from Rutgers University and a J.D. with honors from the New York University.
