Jonathan A. Knee is a senior advisor in the firm’s strategic advisory practice, with over 30 years of relevant experience. Mr. Knee is also the Michael T. Fries Professor of Media and Technology at Columbia Business School.

Notable transactions/clients include advising S&P Global on its acquisitions of SNL Financial and The Climate Service and its sale of McGraw-Hill Construction, McGraw-Hill Education, Businessweek, and S&P Securities Evaluations; Nasdaq on its acquisition of Verafin and its sale of BWise and PR Solutions; the Scripps family on the sale of SNI Networks to Discovery, the merger of the broadcast operations of The E.W. Scripps Co. and Journal Communications, the spin/merge of their corresponding newspaper operations and the purchase of ION Media; Hearst on its multiple investments in Fitch; and Advance on its acquisitions of Turnitin and Examsoft and its sale of 1010data.

Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Knee was managing director and co-head of the media group at Morgan Stanley. He was previously publishing sector head in the communications, media and entertainment group at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of directors of the National Women’s Law Center and New Alternatives for Children.

Mr. Knee holds a J.D. from Yale University, an MBA from Stanford University, an M.Sc. from Trinity College Dublin, and a B.A. from Boston University.
