Angus Winther is a Senior Advisor of Evercore Partners with over 25 years of corporate finance experience.
Mr. Winther is based in London and specialises in advising clients who operate in the insurance and diversified financial sectors, and has advised on a number of significant transactions in these sectors over the past few years, including Brit Insurance on the £880m offer from Apollo and CVC, Wellington on the £591m recommended offer from Catlin, Kiln on the £442mm offer from Tokio Marine and Equitable Life on their restructuring which included the transfer of £4.6billion of non-profit annuities to Canada Life and £1.7billion of with-profit annuities to Prudential.
Mr. Winther was one of the co-founders of Lexicon Partners, the corporate finance advisory business which was acquired by Evercore in 2011. Prior to founding Lexicon Partners in July 2000, he worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he also specialised in mergers and acquisitions in the financial institutions sector. He was previously a partner in The Phoenix Partnership, a corporate advisory and private equity business which was acquired by DLJ in 1997, and prior to Phoenix spent four years working for Chase Manhattan Bank.
Mr Winther is a non-executive director of Hiscox Syndicates Limited (the leading Lloyd’s managing agency) and of Mako Europe Limited (an exchange-traded derivatives and investment management firm) and a trustee of several charities.
He has a degree in politics from Durham University.
