John Mason is a Managing Director of the Utilities & Infrastructure corporate advisory team, based in London.
Mr. Mason has advised on transactions across a number of sectors including thermal and renewable power generation, regulated utilities and infrastructure. Recent transactions on which he has advised include the acquisition of Gaelectric's 228MW operational onshore wind portfolio by CGNEE, the sale of Viridian to I Squared, the acquisition of Madrileña Red de Gas by a consortium of financial investors and the acquisition of E.ON's Iberian business by Macquarie and Wrenhouse. Other significant transactions include MPF's acquisition of Severn Power, Transport for London's acquisition of two DLR concession companies (CARE and WARE), YTL Power's acquisition and subsequent refinancing of PowerSeraya and the acquisition of a 40% stake in Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals by Jardines, Hutchison Ports, Wharf and China National Aviation Corp.
Prior to Evercore, Mr. Mason was a Partner of Lexicon Partners, the corporate finance advisory business which was acquired by Evercore in 2011. From 2007 until 2010, he helped establish Lexicon Partner's first overseas office in Hong Kong before returning to the London office. Before joining Lexicon Partners in 2004, he worked at N M Rothschild & Sons in the Mergers & Acquisitions team for two years.
Mr. Mason has an MPhil in Finance and Economics from Cambridge University and a first class bachelor's degree in Economics from Leicester University.
