Senior Managing Director
Ray Strong is a Senior Managing Director in the firm’s corporate advisory business.
He is a leading independent advisor to companies in the energy sector. He has more than 20 years of investment banking experience, most recently serving as a Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he led the firm's midstream energy, MLP and downstream energy practice.
Mr. Strong has worked on some of the most noteworthy domestic and international M&A transactions in the energy industry, including advising: Kinder Morgan, Inc. on its acquisition of El Paso Corporation; Southern Union Company on its sale to Energy Transfer Equity, L.P.; Chevron Corporation (“Chevron”) on the acquisition of Atlas Energy, Inc. and on the sale of Chevron’s interest in Colonial Pipeline; Hess Corporation on its acquisition of American Oil & Gas Inc. and on its acquisition of Triton Energy Limited; Antero Resources LLC on the sale of its midstream assets; Crosstex Energy on the sale of its treating business and its MS/AL gathering and processing assets; General Electric Company on the acquisition of Regency Energy Partners LP; Kinder Morgan and a consortium of financial sponsors on Kinder Morgan’s $22 billion MBO; Union Pacific Resources Group Inc. on its sale to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation; Crystal Gas Storage, Inc. on its sale to El Paso Corporation; Texaco Inc. on its acquisition of Monterey Resources.
Mr. Strong has also completed numerous financings including 13 IPOs (Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, LP; Buckeye GP Holdings L.P.; Calumet Specialty Products, L.P.; Domain Energy Corporation; Enterprise GP Holdings L.P.; Holly Energy Partners LP; Kinder Morgan Management, LLC; Magellan Midstream Holdings, L.P.; MetroGas S.A.; Niska Gas Storage Partners LLC; Ramco Energy plc; Shamrock Logistics L.P.; and Targa Resources), as well as several high-yield and investment grade debt and secondary equity offerings for: Buckeye Partners, L.P.; Chevron; Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P.; Enterprise Products Partners, L.P.; Hess; Kinder Morgan; Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P.; Nustar Energy L.P.; Oryx; Petronas; Phillips Petroleum; Premcor; Southern Union Company; Sunoco Logistics; Tesoro Corporation; Texaco Inc.; and Tom Brown.
